Dr Duncan Lowe
Plastic Surgery / Dermatology
Dr Duncan Lowe is a skin cancer and skin surgery specialist at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and privately at Glasgow Skin Specialists.
Background
Dr Lowe studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, gaining an intercalated MA in Neurophysiology, before moving to Imperial College London to finish his clinical training in 2010. He returned to Imperial College to study for a masters degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2012, for which he was awarded distinction.
Dr Lowe went on to specialise in Plastic Surgery, and has worked in the specialty since 2014. He moved to Glasgow in 2017 to join the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery unit in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he has specialised in treatment of skin cancer. From 2023, in addition to his Plastic Surgery role, Dr Lowe has taken a joint role in Dermatology, as the surgical lead. Within his NHS practice, Dr Lowe sees and treats almost a thousand skin cancers each year.
Due to pressing demands for surgical treatment of both non-cancer and cancer skin lesions, Dr Lowe also offers treatment in the private sector through Glasgow Skin Specialists – a small, patient-centred clinical practice, aiming to alleviate long waiting times due to service pressures on the NHS.
Dr Lowe lives in Glasgow with his wife and two sons.
